Top 5 Places to Visit in Stoneham, MA
For the last three years, my sister and her family have lived in a small town north of Boston called Stoneham, MA (pronounced "Stone-em"...no ham). When you live on Main Street, you can walk to dining, shopping, and entertainment. Stoneham is a beautiful town with some amazing places to visit. Here are my top 5 don't miss places to visit if you're ever passing through!
No. 1: Amore Pizza
From the first time my sister and brother-in-law moved to Stoneham, Joe at Amore Pizza has been like family to them. Not only is the atmosphere family friendly, but the food is amazing. We had several selections of pizza as well as a Greek salad. I stuffed myself silly, and I was so happy there were leftovers for the next day. Yummy! If only Joe delivered to Texas.
No. 2: Honey Dew Donuts
Don't you love that I start with food. So they say that everything is bigger in Texas, but I met these donuts and beg to differ! We bought a dozen of these massive pastries and had six left over after nine people ate breakfast. Granted, there were some little girls eating, but these are big amazing donuts. My favorite was the apple cider donut. So good.
No. 3: Spot Pond
Right in the middle of town, you find Middlesex Fells Reservation, a great place for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiers, and rock climbers. The centerpiece of this amazing reservation is Spot Pond. Although it seems bigger than a pond to me, I don't care what they call it, it's beautiful. In the fall, it is a spectacular sight. Don't miss it!
No. 4: Stone Zoo
I love zoos, and this one is a small, yet amazing zoo. Stone Zoo has an incredible collection of animals, but my favorites were the Jaguar and the Bears. The exhibits are so close and provide a great opportunity for observing some amazing animals. Again, if you've never been to Boston in the fall, you simply must experience the color displays all around.
No. 5: Friendly's Restaurant
Another great eatery in the North East is Friendly's Restaurant. The Stoneham location is also on Main Street making it an easy stop for hungry families. While the menu provides selections that will please the whole family, the ice cream sundaes are what really draws a crowd. Again, not everything is bigger in Texas.
So if you happen to be visiting the Boston area anytime soon, make sure and check out these treasures in Stoneham, MA.
