Geography Lap Books: Hands-On Learning Stations
Lap books are a fun way to engage with learning while putting together your studies in a beautiful finished product. I discovered A Journey Through Learning at the Texas Home School Coalition Convention and I loved all of the pre-made lap book sets they had. I've tried to create lap books on my own (CRAZINESS), so I loved how their products have everything you need all wrapped up in one nice package. I picked the "Exploring Europe" set to try because it goes along with our studies this year, but there are so many wonderful options.
I'm focusing on Geography this week in my 31+ Days of Hands-On Learning Stations series, and today is all about learning about learning geography with lap books.
I received the Exploring Europe lap book free to review. All opinions are my own.
A Journey Through Learning Lap Books
Lap booking is a great way to bring all of your studies together in a beautiful final product. What I love about the lap books designed by A Journey Through Learning is that all of the research is done for you.
When you get one of their lap book kits, you simply go page by page through the material, and it's so simple to follow. Each element of the lap book is introduced by a information sheet. It will talk through an element of the study, and then the following page will have some activity for you to complete to put in your lap book. The activity will explain exactly what needs to be done, and where you can place it on the folder.
Even though you're given specific instructions, there is still freedom to design your lap book as you like!
We've been working on our lap book over the last few weeks. It's simple to read through and add a bit every day, or you can give it more time and complete more of the lap book at once.
There are tons of instructional videos to help you figure out how to put your lap book together.
When you've put your lap book together, you have a fun product to show for your studies, or a great review tool for later!
Lap Book Options
The lap books from A Journey Through Learning are not limited to geography. They have some incredible additional options:
- Classical Conversations Workbooks and Lap Books
- Bible Lap Books
- History Unit Studies
- Holiday/Seasons Units
- Science Units
They've really thought through how to make these as user friendly as they can be, and I think they've done an excellent job. If you're looking for a fun way to bring hands on learning to a subject of study, lap books are an excellent option.
Which lap book would you choose?
