New From Old – The Beauty in the Remaking
My husband has recently started making things out of reclaimed wood. He takes his time and care with each piece to remake a cast out piece of wood into a treasure in our house. As I was contemplating 2 Corinthians 5:17 the other day, I realized that we are much like that cast off piece of fence. Evaluated as unworthy, we were heading straight for the curb, and our destination was the dump.
And then we were claimed.
Sought out.
Redeemed.
Remade.
Re-purposed to the glory of the Designer.
When I watch my husband reshape a piece of discarded wood into one of his designs, I see that the reshaping is a painful process. There is a lot of noise, cutting, sanding, and reshaping that goes into turning a cast off into a piece of art.
When God claims us, He takes us through a similar process. There are things that need to be cut off and reshaped in order for us to fulfill His purpose. And it's a good purpose.
Just like a caterpillar must disappear in a chrysalis in order to emerge a butterfly, so must we disappear into Christ in order to emerge righteous.

I printed my coloring sheet half size to fit on my wooden clipboard and display in my kitchen. I love posting verses around the house to remind me of truths I want to dwell upon.
I love coloring and meditating on scripture. My mind moves so fast most days, that I struggle to sit and be still, but coloring has given me a way to slow down and imitate my Creator in creativity while contemplating His ways.
My girls love getting in on the fun as well. Since I've been creating these scripture doodles, my youngest has started to make her own. It is precious to see her imitating something lovely I do, and not just all of my bad habits!

Happy coloring! Check out some of my favorite coloring supplies - because nothing is better than fun markers!
