Treehouse: How I Wrote My First LoFi Album
It feels a bit surreal, but I’m calling my first LoFi album “Treehouse.” My vision for this album is to remind my listeners what it’s like to be a child, full of wonder, where everything is new and amazing, where the world is safe enough to explore, and where the mark of Jesus can be found in every little thing.
My music dreams expanded in the fall of 2020. My youngest sister began writing praise songs and inspired me to begin learning music production. As I’ve learned more and more about the production universe, trying to prepare myself to record one of her songs, I’ve practiced what I’ve learned by making Lofi beats. And after over a year of learning, I’ve made some Lofi beats that I’m proud of (and I’m that much closer to feeling equipped enough to produce my sister’s songs).
Processing Emotions with Music
I love music. Since I began learning guitar when I was nine, I discovered that the notes produced by mere strings and wood could speak for me the feelings I could not articulate with words. I was amazed how soft and simple chords seemed to be able to read my mind. Learning classical guitar taught me how to express those feelings in what felt like full sentences.
There have been many nights where I have prayed quietly in my room in the dark with nothing but my instrument, writing stories of my life to my Lord. For several years now, my guitar has been a source of comfort and understanding—a place I’ve come back to consistently in both hard and good times.
Relaxing & Studying with LoFi
Have you ever heard of Lofi music? I can’t say when I was first introduced to this style of music. In my memory, it seems to have found the key under my brain’s front door and made itself at home so that it feels like it's always been around. Lofi stands for “low-fidelity.” The genre is a sort of modern elevator music that’s perfect for relaxing and study that also draws on elements of nostalgia.
Treehouse Relasing Today!
If you’re interested in some study beats, my album comes out today! And Lyssa Grace Art made some pretty incredible art for the cover. You can find my music on Spotify, Apple Music, and just about any other platform you can think of! If you want, you can also check out my music on my new Youtube channel.
Hi, I’m Andy! I am an Ouachita Baptist University grad who writes stories, teaches languages, and makes music in between. The puzzle and mystery of languages fascinate me and inspire me to dig deeper in my studies. I love to learn and experience God’s creation and share what I have found with others.
Love this and the music! It truly is relaxing and inspirational. All for the glory of God! ❤️
Thanks so much! I’m so glad you enjoy it!
