iPhone Scavenger Hunt – Free Fun

It all began in 2011.  We were celebrating my mom's 65th birthday, and we were looking for inexpensive ways to entertain 17 people of various ages.  That can be very challenging because anything multiplied by 17 can add up really quickly!

We were staying at the Embassy Suites that connects with Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine, so I had an idea.  In high school youth group we would do these fun video scavenger hunts.  Why couldn't we have a texting photo scavenger hunt through the Bass Pro Shop.  Ten photos will last about an hour depending on how difficult you make them, but you could do fewer if you had a younger crowd.

Here's how it's done:

1.  You need someone to run the game.  The leader will go take pictures around the location of choice.  We have also pulled this off at the mall - all of the locations were outside of the store.

2.  Divide the group into teams.  We had one or two adults in each group, and each needed to have their own smart phone that can send and receive photos.

3. Play begins when the first clue is texted to each team. The team leader will send each team their first clue in a separate text.  I had a list of 10 clues and started each team in a different part of the list to make sure they weren't all at the same place at the same time.iphone scavenger hunt clue

4.  When teams find the clue, they take a picture of themselves with the item.  Then they text their photo back to the team leader and await their next clue.iphone scavenger hunt clue shark5.  Game ends when one team has completed all of their clues and makes it back to where the team leader is stationed.

The great part of the game is that at the end, you have a lot of great photos of your event!
