Nothing says fall like apple picking. I’ve decided that God created apples so that people would make apple desserts to fatten them up for the winter! There is something about fresh baked apples that are so irresistible that I could eat myself silly when they are served. When I came home with a half of a bushel of apples, I wanted a sugar free apple crisp so that I could enjoy my dessert without so much guilt.

Heading to the Apple Orchard
On our fall break we drove from Dallas to Boston and then headed back through Niagara Falls. It was an amazing road trip. One of the things that made it so memorable was that we considered the drive a part of the vacation and not just the places we were going. On our drive from Boston to Niagara Falls, we stopped in Johnstown, NY at the Rogers Family Orchards to pick apples.
Sugar Free Apple Crisp
When I arrived at my sister’s house in Boston, the scent of fresh apple pie and apple crisp greeted us from our long drive. While I could eat her apple crisp all day long, I decided when I got home with so many fresh apples, I’d need to modify the recipe to go along with my Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle. I love replacing sugar with Truvia. I also swapped out the flour for peanut flour (making this a gluten free treat)which made the crisp have an apples and peanut butter cookie taste. So yummy!
