While my husband is not too handy in the kitchen, the good news is that he is an excellent grill master. This makes entertaining even easier because we can double team the prep and keep our guests happy! He’s sharing tips for making Mediterranean stuffed burgers that are SO tasty. Tip #1: Season Your Meat
When we first were married, my dad shared his grilling secrets with my husband. The best secret he shared was his seasoning salt: 1 part salt, 1 part onion salt, 1 part garlic salt. Sounds salty…but it’s AMAZING! If you don’t want to try that out, my husband’s next go-to is McCormic’s Montreal Steak Seasoning.
We’re taking our meat prep to the next level on the grill today by stuffing our patty with a little cheesy Mediterranean goodness exploding with flavor thanks to Mezzetta roasted red peppers. I love these easy flavor boosters. You can also go spicy if you like.
Tip #2: Start with a Clean, Hot Grill
You don’t want the remains of last week’s steaks mingling in with your current preparations. Get your grill heated up really hot and give it a good scrub before adding on your burgers. Start your burgers on the grill on medium high, creating a lovely sear. This should take a minute to a minute and a half. Flip your burgers and turn the heat down to medium to finish out cooking. The second side should take about five minutes.
Tip #3 Use a Wide Spatula
If you’ve taken such care packing your meat with flavor, you don’t want them to fall apart on the grill. Use a nice wide spatula to ensure your burgers stay in tact.
Tip #4 Don’t Neglect Your Buns
Spread a little butter on the buns, and throw them on the grill for a few seconds after your burgers are done. Your guests will love the added flavor and warmth to their main dish.
Tip #5 Make Your Sides off the Grill
For efficiency, don’t make your guests wait for you to put all of the meal through the grill. Make simple sides in the kitchen. Slice up watermelon, or heat up some frozen tater tots wrapped in bacon so that when the grill is done, your burgers don’t get cold.
